Thank you for the articles on parenting. My husband and I enjoy your program. What I’m struggling with is how to parent practically. Where is the balance between too controlling and too permissive? How do I correct/discipline? Spanking? Time-out? Do you have parenting books/websites you would recommend?
Thank you!
Dana
Hello Dana,
Thanks for listening & reading! We appreciate your support.
I tried to fully answer your concerns from our “Christ-centric” prospective via a new post “Applying Law & Gospel to Practically Discipline” (http://jmc4.me/r3FIrL). Please checkout and feel fee to comment. You comment inspired me to write a treatise! =)
As far as books, I’d suggest any of the James Dobson options (Bring Up Boys, Strong Willed Child, etc.). I’m not huge a fans of such how-to books as a (known or unknown) replacement to looking the Bible, but they can sometimes be useful. Dr. Dobson comes at it from a Christian worldview which is a good start vs. many of his competitors. Just watch for an over emphasis on the Law. Add a healthy dose of Gospel discipline and perhaps together you’ll get some assistance with your practical concerns.
Hope this helps! God bless.
In Christ,
Joshua
